Sandakan - before i left Sabah

11 NOVEMBER 2009

i so wish to go Sandakan as many of my colleagues saying that it looks like little Hong Kong. After making all the arrangements, i waited for my hubby to come to KK..have our 1 day trip in KK before flying to Sandakan...have to thx government for posting me to Sabah and provide me n my hubby free flight tickets...

i fetched my hubby at KK airport after i finished class. then we proceeded to Atmosphere..it is a swirling restaurant where i can enjoy our lunch while enjoying the KK sea view...

then we went to Sutera Harbour to take photos..i never know that that place has such a wonderful and breath-taking view. there were few yachts parking at d harbour..under the sea we could see so many beautiful little fish swimming freely here and there..

Sandakan was the former capital of British North Borneo from the years 1884-1946. We couldn't wait to step into the place.

we took the earliest flight to Sandakan..when we first reached there, we went to meet one of my colleague's friend, Huan Ching..she will be our tour guide this time..i went to her school to meet her first..it was the first time i saw school on the sea..however i felt dizzy when i was in the school..maybe is due to the sea wave..

the surrounding of the school

the kids wereso excited seeing us taking photos there

then we had our tea at one of the cafe there..this cafe is famous with its yogurt ice-cream and cheese cake..they tasted not bad...

this is the cheese cake

these are the ice-cream..we ordered 3 flavors

then we went to the town which is also known as little hong kong...well, the buildings look kind of oldish and dirty..but crowded..

these is how the buildings look like...

the next destination was Agnes Keith House which we could see how her house looked like..she is a famous American writer, Agnes Newton Keith, who penned Land Below The Wind in 1939.

it only takes RM2 to enter this place

this is how Agnes's house outside appearance

nearby the place there is 1 English Tea House and Restaurant..the scenery was comfortable and cosy..many white fellows were having their tea there..

this is how the houses there looked like..rumah setinggan.nevertheless, many chinese are staying there too..

the lorong here is not made by tar, but bridge...the alphabet there indicate which lorong they are staying in...

we had our dinner at this 1 msia restaurant enjoying buffet steamboat...the food taste so so only except you can eat until your stomach burst out..it is situated up at the hill which is famous in Sandakan..we can see the Sandakan night view from here..

this is the famous herbal mee soup...quite nice...something special

the next day early morning we depart to Sepilok where everyone must visit this place if they come to Sandakan.

i should bring this sign into my class everyday rather than shouting till my lung out..

the orang utan came out one by one waiting to be fed..

the workers are feeding them with fruits

other than sepilok, we also visited Labuk bay to see Proboscis Monkeys..in fact it was not worth it to visit this animal as it was situated too far away and the entrance fee was quite high..however, it was a great experince too as we need to go through the swap only can enter the jungle where there was the proboscis sanctuary...

this is how proboscis monkey looks like

on that night dinner, my friend brought us to this seafood restaurant...the food are fantastic so do the price...anyhow..it is still worth it to have a try there..

very soon, it was the last day of our trip..we must try the famous seafood bak kut teh..

this is the shop..is an old shop..

you can choose any type of ingredients, either prawns and fish fillet, o this 'lai mang' fish..you can either eat with bihun soup o plain rice..it tasted like herbal soup with lots of pepper...

after this, we needed to rush back to the rumah setinggan lorong H to buy frozen fish which are much more cheaper than market price..we were able to see many types of fish on the chopper board waiting to be served on table and fishermen brought back their 'caught'.

this is how the houses there looked like..

inside there was a seafood restaurant, serving super fresh seafood caught from the sea..

the fresh fish is waiting to be served..its gills were still moving

sea creatures which would become delicious meal served on table

what he had brought back from the sea

after brought all the frozen seafood, we had to leave this place..if this is considered as our pre-honeymoon..then the next trip would be out honeymoon trip...looking forward for the next vacation...

i had to say goodbye to Sabah as i got transfered back to kedah..but for sure i will be back..the next destination will be sempona..i wish to go snorkeling at sipadan, mataking, and kapalai island..hopefully this dream will come true soon...
